Ah, on the road at last, off to Warrensburg, NY, along the Lower Schroon River in the Adirondack Firest Preserve.
Eric hooked up his GPS antenna to his laptop, providing us with realtime positioning, bearing, and speed ... oh, and elevation. Fortunately, that got us there, as none of us brought directions!
After a half-hour, Fisher was asking if we were almost there.
Eric, trying to take a short rest.
Dad was in the driver's seat.
OK, after I got Fisher's and my tent all set up, I was free to take some pictures. This is Eric setting up his tent and canopy.
Fisher loved playing with the anthills.
I love this picture.
Fisher found the playground before we even got to our site. So, as soon as we were set up, he was off to play.
Fisher on the slide.
Back for another round.
Wheeee!
I love this picture.
The view to the north from our campsite.
These were right next to the playground, so Fisher thought they were balance beams. It kept him ooccupied.
Fisher, enjoying some "ice cold water", his drink of choice on this hot weekend.
Me, all by myself after starting a fire, trying to take a picture of myself.
Fisher, en route between Dad's campsite, across the street from the rest of us, and ours.
Eric tries to get ahold of Mike and Nicolas on his cell phone.
Fisher and I on a walk to "the beach". The beach was a nasty, swampy hole. But the pool was beautiful, so we opted for that!
Fisher and Dad look over the map of the campground.
The sunset Friday night was beautiful! This, of course, doesn't capture it very well.
Eric relaxes around the fire.
Eric's salmon and corn-on-the-cob dinner Friday night was DELICIOUS!
Batman ... I mean Fisher ... eagerly awaiting dinner.
Eric checks on dinner.
After a delicious dinner, what better way to spend the evening looking at the starlit sky around the campfire.
Kramer went to sleep eralier than the rest of us. (Eric, too?)
Mike and Nicolas got there around 11, I think, and were greeted with dinner!
What good company we had the whole weekend.
Mike scopes out the grounds, trying to find the best place for their tent ... in the dark.
Setting up the tent by the headlights of Nicolas's car.
I couldn't resist ... the bathroom was pretty disgusting when we first got there. I opted to use the RV for the rest of the weekend. (The urinal shown here was actually the "nicest" of the potties.)
Mike doing "something".
Puppy love.
Dad's Father's Day gift from Tara, sent via Mike. Dad said, "Mom will NEVER let me use these!" (You can bring them to my house, Dad!)
Fisher and I were up earlier Saturday morning than the rest of the camp. Fisher has a "first breakfast" of peanut butter cookies and an apple, and I, coffee.
It's never too easy to keep the kids' noise level down during "quiet hours".
Fisher really enjoys this apple.
Nick shows Fisher how to use his binoculars.
